In the year 1900, 70% of Romania’s area was covered by forest. In the year 2010, Romania’s forest cover doesn’t reach 16%. And this 16% is going down because in Romania, due to a permissive legislation, forests are heavily, and mostly illegally, exploited. Ion Asaftei from Grinties village is willing to tell us more about the legal and illegal wood trade in his area. But how much can he speak? Because the illegal deforestation and wood processing is covered by a well organized mafia. And our guy, Ion, is in a delicate or dangerous position.
