Synopsis
St. Petersburg is the city that sprang up on the banks of the Neva effectively in a few short years through the determination of Peter the Great. A city that absorbed the whole of European culture - it was after all designed by the Italians, Dutchmen, Germans and Frenchmen - yet still remained Russian. A city that still today draws Europeans with its architectural ensembles and cultural milieu.
