Synopsis
Philip and Daniel are childhood friends. Both born in 1981, they discover the liberating power of alcohol at around 15. While intoxicated, they create music and movies; sessions that they refer to as 'regressions'. By 26, Philip is a full-blown alcoholic. To help, Daniel suggests a 40-day and 40-night pilgrimage in Spain. Stone. Cold. Sober. Interwoven with clips from their early 'works', 1981 Regressionists is a lofi-epic, meta-documentary that chronicles their cathartic and existential voyage, keeps tabs on a remarkable tale of male friendship, and questions the 'what is' of creativity as the friends encounter their ultimate 'regression'.
