Fifteen years ago, the violin maker Amnon Weinstein decided to find the violins once played by the Jewish musicians in the ghettos and the camps. He has lovingly restored the instruments, bringing them back to life. Amnon Weinstein is now offering us the opportunity of hearing the voices of the millions of men, women en children whose lives were destroyed. The movie displays the journey of Amnon Weinstein through Lithuania, Norway, France and finally Auschwitz, while searching for violins and ends with a big concert that took place in Jerusalem in September 2008, where 19 of Amnon’s restored violins were played. This was the highlight of Amnon’s jouney with his Holocaust violins.
