Synopsis
A documentary regarding the small gold miners in Colombia, who are facing a critical situation: the arrival of international mining corporations. Nowadays Colombia produces little gold but the country may have the first deposit of all South America, so the government has set up a master plan to develop the large-scale mining., The movie is divided in two parts. The first one brings us to visit some typical tunnel mines in one of the main extracting region of Colombia, the “Bolívar”. And the second part shows us a massive protest of the small miners during the end of 2013. The film mainly gives the voice to the miners themselves and explicitly describes 13 tactics that the government uses to eliminate them., From putting military pressure to changing legal requirements, everything is made possible to ensure that the artisanal miners leave the stage.
