Synopsis
In a sleepy colonial town in Northeastern Brazil, three candidates are campaigning to unseat the mayor, banking on divine intervention, vote buying, the propagation of Marxist ideals or the latest reggae sound to help their campaigns. While well-oiled campaign machines hold out the promise for a better future, one candidate takes on the political establishment and sets out in a lone effort to convince voters that things are not as they seem. As religion, money and politics intersect during the campaign trail, the film reveals the challenges of democracy and the pitfalls of electoral politics in Brazil.
