Synopsis
Marcin is a thirty-three-year-old actor, who has never played a significant role in a significant movie. He comes from a small town in southern Poland. The youngest of three siblings, he’s the only one who hasn’t started a family. Marcin has bent his life to his dream of becoming a great actor (like his idol Robert De Niro). He tries to fulfil himself as a cabaret actor and a stand-up comedian. Despite his frustration and problems, he keeps on fighting. Every year, for the last seven years, Marcin spends six weeks working on a farm in Lavanger, Norway. As a seasonal worker, he picks potatoes and carrots. The money he earns gives him relative financial independence for the rest of the year. The film shows one year in the protagonist’s life. This is the year that is supposed to be essential, in which one has to decide whom to be and how. The year in a loop, in which we promise ourselves that we’ll quit smoking, take up jogging, find an appropriate job or finally settle down with someone. A year later, we give ourselves the same tasks., ONE MAN SHOW is a bitter-sweet creative documentary that combines documentary observations and honest confession of young unknown actor.
