Synopsis
ENGLISH: The Palestinian village of Susya in the Occupied Territories. A shepherd leads his flock to the valley. The valley, borderland to a neighboring Israeli settlement, is being watched over by soldiers. Every walk with the sheep resembles a negotiation over the remaining pastures. The state of emergency is already transformed into daily routine. Resisting means to persevere, to tell your own story, to invoke the past or a time to come. But how can we relate to this situation, far away as it seems from here? The film follows some of Susya's residents on their daily routes: fragments of their lives, fragments of their stories - mere suggestions to form an open space of meaning. DEUTSCH: Das palästinensische Dorf Susya im besetzten Westjordanland. Ein Hirte führt die Schafe ins Tal. Das Tal, Grenzgebiet zur benachbarten israelischen Siedlung, wird von Soldaten bewacht. Jeder Gang mit den Schafen gleicht einer Anhörung, einer Verhandlung über noch verfügbares Land. Der Ausnahmezustand ist längst zum Alltag erklärt. Widerstand bedeutet Ausharren, das Erzählen der eigenen Geschichte, die Anrufung einer besseren Zeit. Doch wie viel lässt sich nachvollziehen aus diesem, von hier gesehen, so fernen Ort, von jenem Lebensgefühl, durch Entbehrung und Verlust geprägt? Wir folgen einigen Bewohnern auf ihren Wegen: Fragmente ihres Alltags, Fragmente ihrer Erzählungen - bloße Andeutungen formen sich zum offenen Bedeutungsraum.
