Synopsis
“Elegy for Life” is a debut documentary film about Peppino D'Emilio who, in the Seventies, wanted to transform the city through art. He founded “Convergenze”, a cultural space that was not just a gallery or an exhibition space, but a project of transforming the city through people's creativity. Active in Pescara from 1973 to 1981, “Convergenze” become a real Community Art Centre. In this place, Andrea Pazienza, an icon of his generation, one of the most original European authors of “Comics Art”, started his artistic training. The story is about the dream of a man, Peppino D'Emilio, who wanted to change the minds of men through art, culture, and language, and the dream of many nourished by the hope of changing the world. It highlights an aspect of Italy's history, focused on art and culture, which has found its expression in a small town. It is not an “Amarcord” (a nostalgic memory), but the reconstruction of a cultural and artistic experimentation in which the art is linked to the emergencies of today: culture, innovation, research, training and youth.
