22 years after playing in the Stephen Frears’s movie, John Malkovich directs the play by Christopher Hampton adapted from Les liaisons dangereuses by Choderlos de Laclos. John wanted to work with young actors and for more than 8 months, he auditioned many young actors from different acting schools and chose 9 of them. I followed the path of these actors from the cast until the 185th performance., This documentary is like a journey in which I wanted to explore what makes the difference between the idea we have of something before we make it and its concrete result. In particular for an actor who is just graduated: what is in his mind when he is going to work with someone as John Malkovich ?, How does he perceive this work ? What does he expect from it ? What his dreams are, his fantasy., During this journey, during rehearsals and performances, retrospectively, each actor measures the long way he came., I have been knowing John from 15 years and I have been working with him as a decorator. This film was also for me a way to explore John’s particular way of working. But quickly, I became the tenth little Indian, moved and touched by what became for all of us a true life lesson.
