From the Chicago suburbs, Ala’a, an American teenage girl, helps run the revolution in Syria. With social media, she coordinates for Aous, a student in Damascus who braves snipers to organize protests for freedom, and Bassel, a film student at Syracuse who left his scholarship to show the world what Syrian State TV won’t broadcast. Through a system of camera phones and social media, Ala’a helps turn the world’s eye to the crisis in Syria. But just because the world can see the atrocities doesn't mean that the world can help. As the revolution rages, everyone in the network must choose which weapon is the most powerful in toppling a dictator: social media or AK-47s.
