Synopsis
Sounds of Blikkiesdorp describes everyday life in Blikkiesdorp, a newly built township in the far periphery of Cape Town. Erected by the municipality, it is occupied since 2008 by people from very different backgrounds, some who were previously living in a nearby squatter’s camp, some having been forcefully moved there. In this quite hostile, isolated place and despite the harsh living conditions and the uncertainty of their future, the people we come across do all they can to improve their house and make a living. In a place of informality and resourcefulness, music is the link between the houses, the alleys and becomes the real soundtrack of Blikkiesdorp.
