Synopsis
From the moment this film begins, it captures the heart, reminding us that colonization is not limited to North America, and ethnic cleansing and the holocaust to Germany and Europe. Haunting, moving, shocking, this film transports us, through the life of an elder, to another time and place where a multitude of human spirits resisted, and a multitude were crushed. Resilience and kindness appear at random amidst this devastation, reminding us of the potential strength and beauty of the human heart. Hovan has offered us an important, timely, beautifully crafted glimpse into the lives and events of an obscured era, through the lucid, poignant storytelling of an Armenian elder. We are left wanting to hear more stories, more words, to know more, impatiently asking, “Then what happened?”
