« Firozabad explores the kinematics of manual labour. In each factory he films, François Daireaux captures the rhythmic, sometimes hypnotic coordination of bodies; he grasps individual gestures and the forces directing them. The film approaches choreography and becomes even more captivating, through images of the glassworkers’ unremitting ballet, of the range and diversity of the forms given to glass – from recycling to liquefaction, from the soft, reddish substance to the solid final product, in an infinite variety of colours and forms.
