Synopsis
“Gypsy Fair” is a documentary about the positive - and often neglected aspects of Gypsy culture and life. It introduces viewers to a group of individuals who dispel stereotypes typically associated with the culture. The people featured in “Gypsy Fair” are not the thieves, outlaws or light-hearted travellers seen by outsiders, but are a complex, misunderstood and proud people. Filmed at the annual Appleby Horse Fair, Gypsy Fair follows Tracy, an English Romany Gypsy, as he explores the bustle of the Appleby horse fair. It reveals aspects of a culture that few are familiar with. Wandering through the River Eden banks, Fair Hill and the Flash Lane, it also features interviews with other participants, including fair organiser Billy Welch.
