Synopsis
« After a Dream » is not a fiction nor a documentary, it’s a film-dance. It is not exactly supported by a narrative but rather by a journey. There is no protagonist, but rather a moving energy. There are no characters either, but rather encounters. It is the uninterrupted monitoring of a dancer’s body in the city. It is more of a performance, a visual poem, an attempt to re-enchantment. The film takes place in a tough suburban neighborhood of Grenoble, Villeneuve, also known for having served as the stage of an urban and architectural utopia in the 1970’s. Elise, a young dancer, meanders firmly from one spot to the next, from open spaces to buildings, from group to group, from terraces to gardens, from color to color. She meets, as if by chance, the inhabitants. Sometimes, snippets of conversations, of songs and of dances emerge.
