Synopsis
As the Portuguese arrived in the Southeast of Brazil, there lived nomadic groups in the Atlantic Forest, who called themselves “Borum”, and were named “Botocudo Indians” by the conquerors.
As they resisted and hindered the colonial plans, the Portuguese Empire declared the Just War and legalized their enslavement and murder.
In the 18th century, they became an object of study for European naturalists.
In Brazilian history the “Botocudo Indians” are presented as fierce warriors and barbarian cannibals, extinct in the last century.
Actually, they survived, and now strive to make known their version of this story.
