Synopsis
“ Toil and Trouble ” was shot at several Geneva trade union headquarters in 2010. These are the places where men and women – usually involved in disputes with their employers – come to seek support. In an initial interview with a trade union secretary, they describe in detail the situation they find themselves in. In the stories they tell, they reveal their professional qualifications, their personal or family circumstances, the work that they are required to do and for which they have been employed ; they discuss their relations with their employers, their earnings and the place work occupies in their lives. They tell of a need to feel respected in the work they do.
