Portraits of a woman gone
Director Frédéric Goldbronn
Countries France
Duration 95 min
Synopsis
The woman who has disappeared is the director’s own mother, a figure he conjures through memories of his three sisters and one brother, all older, born of four different fathers and who did not grow up together.
Those memories, both overflowing and empty are compared with the artifacts their mother left behind – letters and captionless, sometimes torn photographs.
The places she knew are revisited, from Paris’upscale 16th arrondissement to the working class suburb of Aubervilliers,. Official records inquiries reveal her secret – the painful tale of her youth during the Occupation.
