Synopsis
“Out of the Fire” is a documentary film about creating an authentic, purpose-driven, artistic life through focused choices. Woven throughout are themes of risk-taking, following one’s heart, and letting go. The film centers on a four-day period during which the potter, Kevin Crowe, places half a year’s worth of work – and income – into the fire. The central characters’ personal journeys make up the heart of the film. In addition to Kevin’s story, the film also follows the path of his apprentice, Krista Loomans, a young woman growing into her chosen vocation as a potter, despite the economic (and personal) challenges she faces along the way.
