Synopsis
Jaywick is a place that casts a powerful spell over newcomers and longstanding residents alike. Once the favourite holiday spot of London's working classes, this decaying seaside town was recently named the most deprived place in the UK. For a prized sea view at bargain rents, locals take in their stride astonishingly high levels of crime, dependency and anti-social behaviour. This film follows the lives of Jaywick newcomers, drifters whose reasons to escape here are revealed amidst the euphoria, ennui and despair of a year by the seaside.
