Burqa and the confused Afghan Burqa and the confused Afghan is a documentary by Afghan-Canadian filmmaker Brishkay Ahmed exploring the, strange, origin and status of burqa - the garment, sadly, tied to the image of Afghanistan. Brishkay Ahmed’s confusion about the status of this garment is the motivation behind the journey back to her homeland. When intellectuals and experts explain their theories about burqa’s existence, the veil on burqa is lifted. From one expert to another, Brishkay is told what, at first, sounds mad: Burqa was first used by harem girls. It was created in India. It is more than a hundred years old. The British used it as a political tool. The burqa was used by undercover spies. Iran manipulated it. It was demanded by fashionistas! Burqa and the confused Afghan, takes viewers back to a forgotten Afghanistan. With the usage of stock footage and animated segments, the true story of Afghanistan is revealed.
