Synopsis
13 years ago, Penny, a young nurse, was badly injured in a skydiving accident. Now she is trying to get out of bed. This film is about practices of control, (in)dependence and power as well as experiences of time and space, as lived and expressed from the perspective of a tetraplegic woman. In order to visually and aurally represent the experiences of disability, conventional filming and editing techniques are insufficient. For this reason, the filmmaker uses an unorthodox approach to filmmaking through which she aims to avoid producing an audience of ‘compassionate spectators of the dilemmas of others’, and instead seeks to provide the vieers with stimulus for more than just compassion.
