Synopsis
In the ja tradition of Zen Buddhism, flower arrangement, Ikebana, is an art where spiritual impulses, immediacy, simplicity, and completeness, all strive together to attain Freedom. The author follows the work of Rumiko Manako, a sensei, an Ikebana master, through the demonstrations in the world, and travels through an art that may change her vision of the world. Rumikos mother owned a small flower shop and her father taught Ikebana. She remembers being surrounded by flowers since childhood.
