Synopsis
The text means starting Point and catalyst for a film about rememberance and suppresion gaps in a biography. Mr. Berner, a inhabitant of a Karlsruhe old peoples home, should read from Heiner Müller’s “Wolokolamsker Chaussee” for a radio play. When reading the text Mr. Berner starts recollecting his past. When he can’t sleep at night, he thinks about olden days and what one could have done differently. During the war Mr. Berner was a member of the Waffen-SS. The film, a black and white reversal film, was hand developed in a bucket. By doing so, the material gains the unique effect of emphasizing, the fleeting character of the pictures.
