Synopsis
The action happens in the Museum–reserve of traditional life in Ivanovo (Russia) during the celebration of traditional summer retuals - "Green Sacreds". The Museum is the place where people from all over the country come to study the natural culture: rituals, crafts, singing, dancing, folk psychology and pedagogy... One of the research directions is the calendar summer ceremony. The main plot line - "mermaid" rituals, known in ethnography as «the mermaid fareell ceremony» or «the expulsion of mermaids» rituals. The main characters of the film pass the mermaid rituals exploring the substance of the people's image of mermaids, soul, human... What did our ancestors achieve for centuries keeping the traditions of the carrying out of the rituals? What did they give to people? How did they help to live? Can we realizing this make our modern life more integral, harmonious and happy? The film shows both the ethnographic description and the spiritual way of characters which they pass.
