Synopsis
The bull has played an important role in the Mediterranean imagery since ancient times. In Amposta, a small town in southern Catalonia, the passion for festivals with bulls has seen a revival in the last 20 years, especially in the festival called the bou embolat; this is a practice in which two metal structures with flammable balls are attached to the horns of the animal and then set on fire. This phenomenon has led to the organising of national contests; groups from different towns compete to see who holds the structure and sets the balls on fire as quickly as possible.
Taking its name from their war cry, the film Amuertemorir is a choral portrait of the group Emboladors dAmposta, which has revolutionised shows with bulls and fire.
