AO After the War

Duration 25 min
Synopsis
An aid worker returns to AO to visit the town he worked in during the AOn war, Kuito. But all goes wrong when his cameraman is refused entry at the Namibian border, and he has to turn on his camera and trek across the country on his own. As he travels, via bus, van, jeep and motorbike, he talks to AOns about war & peace, business, politics and rebuilding their country. In Kuito, he finds former colleagues and hears their stories of survival and loss in the civil war: from the pastor who lost his pregnant wife in an ambush during the Siege of Kuito, to the woman who watched her father shot down in the street by a sniper, to the former civil defence member who says the war needs to be left in the past, even as he surveys the memorial to Kuito's "martyrs".
