Synopsis
Along the course of the Isonzo from source to mouth, we come across various people: everybody has their unique, personal approach to the river. Therefore, rather than being a film about a river, it regards our relationship with nature.
The Isonzo has always been a borderline watercourse. In relative shortness it links two different worlds: the Alps and the Mediterranean. It is not fortuitous that it has two apparent personalities, mirrored in just as many names: SoÄa, a feminine one, and Isonzo, masculine. Rich in contradictions, very attractive, as a watercourse it is just as dangerous however, famous for its emerald colour as it is for bloody battles. The First World War did not only destroy life, villages and fields, but even the rapport of man with nature. Survivors having had to start all over again from scratch, people still seem to live here in a hurriedly-rebuilt world, at present.
