Who hasn’t ever wished to be someone else? But what if it gets trapped inside an illusion forever? Over 70 years ago, a group of Spanish actors left for the States with hopes of becoming movie stars. Those were the early days of the talkies (sound cinema) and Hollywood studios started to produce Spanish language versions of their own films. Through the spaces from the past that still remain today, the void reveals the immensely alive presences of those who are dead. Scraps of a story lost in time. A trip into the unknown through a one way street. Because it’s not possible to come back from a place where nobody may have not ever been. Hollywood Talkies tells a story of a “momento” of hope in which everything seems to be possible. A film facing history through its ghosts.
