Passion - Last Stop Kinshasa

Duration 90 min
Synopsis
"Les ballets C de la B" from Belgium show a new adaption of Bach’s
St. Matthew’s passion by Alain Platel and Fabrizio Cassol. After their
impressive one-year tour around the world this dance company
performed a last show in Congo. "Pitié! Erbarme dich" is a play pleading
for more compassion in our daily life. Showing this radical vivid
dance-theatre in Africa creates a new dimension for dancers, musicians
and audience. Living with more compassion would change our
world and Kinshasa is the striking proof for this. The film by Jörg
Jeshel and Brigitte Kramer is a music-and-dance-film, a documentary
on a rare encounter of classical music and African reality, a celebration
of passion and compassion. And it is a reflection on sacred
music by breathtaking singers, featuring the young Congolese countertenor
Serge Kakudji, in a country struggling to survive.
