PUNK IS NOT DADDY – ARQUIVOS DO FIM DE SÉ CULO Vol. 1: 1982-1992

Duration 61 min
Synopsis
"Punk is Not Daddy" is a journey through the 80s, witnessed by a fledging
filmmaker, Edgar Pêra, and registered in his cine journals: the Chiado
ruins, daily life in Lisbon and Madrid, the Estates General of Portuguese
Cinema, and most importantly the intervention of pop bands – the main
cultural reference of that time. "Punk is Not Daddy" witnesses the evolution
and final phase of the band Heróis do Mar, the backstage of GNR in a
concert promoted by the political alliance APU, the gripping performances
by Xutos & Pontapés, the Celtic atmosphere of Sétima Legião, Delfins’
pop, the militancy of Clandestinos, the shooting of Rádio Macau’s videos.
And even the controversy that marked the Portuguese Music Contest
finale, held at Rock Rendez-Vous, the rehearsals of the band Censurados
in João Ribas’ apocalyptic bedroom or the last (anti)concert at RRV with
Zao Ten de Farinha Master. "Punk is Not Daddy" portrays, in the first person,
the first decade uncommitted to fascism, in a period when revolution
was no more than an echo. Finally, art in a context of freedom.
