Duration 96 min
Synopsis
Ulrike Meinhof (Baader Meinhof Group) and Fusako Shigenobu (Japanese Red Army) emerged from the student revolutions of 1968 to plot world revolution and become the most notorious women in German and Japanese history. We look at the legacy of these women and the first wave of modern terrorism through the eyes of their children. On the run or abandoned when their mothers went underground, May Shigenobu and Bettina Röhl emerged from difficult childhoods to lead their own extraordinary lives and provide a unique perspective on two generations of terrorism. Shot in Tokyo, Beirut, Jordan and Germany, the film sees May and Bettina face up to their mother's actions: what were they fighting for and what have we learned?
