Synopsis
Barracão is the name of the warehouse where the samba schools of Rio de Janeiro spend many months planning and building their carnival parade, according to the theme and story they have chose, which will be told by their 3000 participants.
Within the walls of the barracão, the Carnaval designer, or carnavalesco, directs his team, which is responsible for the design and execution of the carnaval parade.
“BARRACÃO” reveals the backstage secrets and magic during the preparation of the parade, in a collective portrait of all of the participants who are the soul of the samba schoool.
This “brazilian opera” shows the exuberant expression, the singing and dancing, and the popular culture of Rio de Janeiro as expressed through the samba.
