The war for other media
Director Cristian Jure, Emilio Cartoy Diaz
Countries Argentina
Duration 75 min
Synopsis
With notebooks, horns, radios, newspapers, video cameras, cell phones… the indigenous peoples have been incorporating the mass media for the fortification of their claims and the recognition of their rights. Paradoxically the reality of the indigenous communicators, their means and their productions are almost unknown outside the limits of the indigenous world. From four experiences - Francisca in Red Aymara of ERBOL Bolivia, Almir in Amazonia incorporating Internet, Matías in Radio Mapuche from Patagonia and Ariel working with the video in the villages of Brazil - the documentary “THE WAR FOR OTHER MEDIAS” wants to represent the way in which the indigenous peoples use their own mass media to resist the invasion of their territories, the looting of their resources, the legal persecution, the cultural discrimination, the lack of recognition of their institutions, the denunciation of their inequality and the recognition of their differences
