Ozkan Kucuk, in this documentary, tells the story of his father, who is a respected Alaouite Dede. Seyid Musa Dede 77, an Alaouite Dede, who is the founder of the first Jem – House (Alaouite Temple), grew up in ancient Dersim and witnessed the sorrowful recent history of Turkey. The film, parallel to a journey from Istanbul to Dersim, depicts a spiritual world from the memories of childhood in Dersim 1938 until present day. Thus, the documentary is one of the few productions trying to shed light over the foundations of the human-centered philosophy of Alaouite belief. Alaouite people, whose freedom of belief and worship has been restricted and oppressed for centuries, while having several “Jem – Houses” recently, still don’t have any constitutional rights.
