When God tells Vanessa Melton that she and her family must leave their old life behind, they take to the road. Vanessa and Maurice Melton are an African American couple from Anchorage, Alaska. They have five kids. With less than 300 dollars and nothing but their car to live in, the Meltons set out across America in search of new horizons. Filmed over four years, Road to Las Vegas records the family’s struggle to make a new start in Las Vegas, where the lure of plentiful jobs and cheap housing have made it America’s fastest growing city. But as boom turns to bust, infidelity, drugs and poverty threaten to overwhelm them.
