Synopsis
On the Road to Santiago : What happens if you suddenly slow down to 4 kilometers per hour? How about advancing solely by your own physical capacities? Your body will ache with the unfamiliar effort; your mind will start to spin differently… a door inside of you opens, your inner quest may begin. In a way, a pilgrimage is a peaceful, slow and yet radical break from everyday life. Nevertheless, the Camino de Santiago is not the issue of the film. This is where the encounters take place. Nature is the location for the film, not the pilgrims’ path. « Time off (or discovering slowness) » is a multi-layered portrait-film focusing on the human capacity to rule your own life. The belief that mankind will flee the complex world through growing entertainment consumption and futile occupations and the phenomenon of the increasing pace of our lives will be present all throughout the film, as this is the protagonists’ motivation to break away. Against the tendency of allegedly general disorientation, they hold the conviction that Man has (still) the capacity of choice and will. The keys are self-reflection and self-questioning.
