Synopsis
It is 10:30 a.m. on August 11th 2006 when a small catamaran passes under the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Onboard, exhausted and victorious, is the solitary sailor Alessandro Di Benedetto, who had left two months earlier from Yokohama (Japan). Crossing the Pacific on an unsheltered sailboat has earned him a record which will likely remain unmatched and the awareness of having accomplished a feat at the limits of human capability.
ONE WORLD is the story of an epic voyage fraught with countless dangers, privation and toil, but laced with secret joys and courage bordering on the reckless. This adventure was born under the banner of solidarity and sharing, in the name of the environment – in the name of this one planet we all call home and which feeds us all. Alessandro Di Benedetto is an antihero, a seaman who, by respecting the ancient rules that govern Nature, has managed to catch a fleeting glimpse of another life. ONE WORLD is his gaze, his thoughts, the centre of the most perfect form of solitude we can imagine. A small lesson in the priorities of our life and the power of dreams.
