Synopsis
'Árvores' is a piece of research, made as a video in response to Joana Providência's invitation, within the context of her project 'Ladrões de Almas' ('Soul Stealers'). It is a collection of statements from people who tell stories of “salvation”. They are memories of situations and experiences from daily life that, in the voices of these men and women, speak to us of life and death. Each of these people is a tree, body and 'journey' transforming time and space. Aurora Bétula, Alexandre Pinheiro, Antonieta Plátano, Bárbara Jacarandá, João Carvalho, João Limoeiro, Laurinha Laranjeira, Madalena Oliveira, Romi Magnólia, Sr. Zé “Salva-Almas” (“Soul-Save”) Cedro, Zeferino Loureiro and “Brava Amendoeiras em Flor” (“Wild Almond Trees in Bloom”).
