Synopsis
Concierges immerses us into the routines of three female, Portuguese concierges working in Paris. All aspects of these characters' daily lives are submitted to an objective gaze: daily tasks, relationships with tenants, burocratic questions, free time, meal time discussions, conflicts. Instants in the routines of these three women function as brushstrokes in a portrait of the concierge profession and the emigrant community which, in France, is most easily associated with this profession: the Portuguese community. Being concierges conditions the views that these women have about their country of residence, as well as about their life plans; at the same time, having a Portuguese concierge conditions the life of a building and neighbourhood in Paris. It is in this alchemy, this dependency, that the project Concierges finds itself anchored.
