n 1945 brothers Ernst and Peter Hochleitner were young Austrian conscripts in the German Army fighting in former Yugoslavia. But when the war ended they were kept there to work and it took years for them to get home. In 2005 the filmmaker Gabriele Hochleitner travelled with them, her father and uncle, back to the Balkans. Against this background the two old men recall the times of the war, their youth and their childhood. The director gives us an extraordinary view of the relationship between the men and their story - funny and sad, heartfelt and open.
