Synopsis
Wandering through the Roman ruins of Milreu, where, amongst the remains of magnificent mosaics, a mother (actress Susana Borges) prepares her son for life, prepares her son for a journey, taking advantage of advice from the “stoic” Séneca, so wise and so ascetic that the despotic and crazy Nera, for whom Séneca was advisor, troubled by so much knowledge and such detachment “ordered” him to commit suicide. “Reading feeds the mind...”. Seeing and listening too. So, lets follow mother and son, sometimes together, sometimes apart, on a journey through a piece of land, estuary and sea, a piece that is said to be protected (?), a little more than 40km of a unique, vibrant and magnificent system of lagoons where the light is all important. “That animal-like light that trembles and vibrates like the wings of a cricket”, said Raul Brandão, that material light, the origin of all life and of any and all thought, I say.
