Synopsis
Fishing still offers a sea of opportunities, where the work is more and more tranquil and the trips safer. Portugal and Spain are lands of fishermen, with a history of sharing resources that has not always been peaceful. Since the seventeenth century, at the least, the routes taken by fishermen from Andalucia and the Algarve have crossed at Foz da Guardiana. But it is only now that the sea belongs to all, communal, as the European Union wants it to be. This documentary is a collection of interviews with the entities, on both the Portuguese and Spanish sides, that are most closely related to the fishing activity in the Guadiana estuary area (fishermen and boat owners' associations, stall holders, public administration representatives, universities), in which the intense and historic sharing of location and resources and the future prospect of making access to the waters unrestricted are considered.
