Synopsis
Marrabentando is a documentary about five old, Mozambican musicians, stars of Marrabenta – a very popular musical style, whose history goes back to the fifties and sixties when Maputo was still Lourenço Marques and the capital was living through colonialism's cultural hey-day. The “Old Glorias”, as they are affectionately called by their fans, still live in the charismatic Mozambican capital, doing the same as they have done for fifty years: they survive singing and playing songs about the joy and sadness in their lives. Following their professional and personal lives, listening to their conversations and songs, Marrabentando also brings us the story of the Mozambican capital and the life of its population in the second half of the twentieth century.
