Synopsis
It is difficult to describe a documentary. Just as it seems difficult to me to write a script about something that you do not know yet. 'Em Trieste, as Almas' is a documentary that you can read in the voices of those who best know the city of Trieste, those who live and spend their time there; that you can hear in the sound of the sea and music, that you can see in the colour of the sky, in the narrow back streets of the old neighbourhood, in the squares and historical monuments that fill up and empty every day with people who cross through, stay or pass by. 'Em Trieste, as Almas' does not limit itself to documenting, speaking about that which exists, that which is palpable and physical. Above all, with my interviewees, I sought to reflect on what this city is like, how each one of them feels about it, what is there underlying its concrete history. And, as such, to try to understand what it is that Trieste has that does not exist in any other place, what it is that is specific and special about this city.
