This film dives into the many histories of the Portuguese language as well as its continuing state as part of a variety of the planet's cultures. In “Língua” (Language), Portuguese as an official language is, above all, speech, discovered in the daily lives of both illustrious and anonymous characters from four continents. For each of them, their Portuguese has amalgamated gods, melodies, climates, rhythms. It mingles with the different foods and countrysides. It has been reinvented hundreds of times and fed by successive colonizers, immigrants and descendents.
