Synopsis
In Aparecida, an industrial area in the North of Portugal, the annual party that takes place on 15th August is being prepared. The wooden frameworks used to carry effigies in the procession are decorated and the coffins in which, in accordance with a secular tradition, the penitents will lie, are already ready. However, the new priest wants to put an end to the tradition of “burial” pledges. Conflict is inevitable. This is a film that tells the tale of those who make pledges to Our Lady Aparecida, of their worries and of their personal stories, reflecting on traditional and official religiosity, tradition and modernity.
