Synopsis
Natal 71 is the name of a record given to the military oversees in the Portuguese colonies in that same year. “Cancioneiro do Niassa” is the name that was given to an audio cassette, recorded in secret by military men throughout the years of the war in Mozambique. It was at the time when Portugal was a colonial empire – at least that was what I read in my school books – and, as such, my father and the majority of his generation fought in that war, which lasted 13 years. Today we transport these memories in silence. I look back and try to see. (Margarida Cardoso)
