Taraf de Haïdouks is an ensemble made up of thirteen, virtuoso Gyspy musicans from Romania who, from the small village of Clejani, have managed to gain acclaim on the European music scene. Taraf travels on tour in Portugal. For the past thirteen years, after the fall of Ceausescu, and since the Belgian producer Stéphane Karo formed this famous ensemble of lautari, the street and stage have filled their nomadic days. Confronted with a wide ranging audience and a variety of countries, these musicians from many different generations have a singular energy and keep a musical tradition alive, and as such also assert their identity.
